Low Calorie Pizza

Pizza is a fan favourite go to meal around the world, but some can be full of calories. If you want to enjoy the pleasure of pizza without the excess calories, try this tasty low calorie pizza recipe for your next meal. 

Ingredients 

  • Just under ¾ Cup self-rising flour 
  • ¼ teaspoon xanthan gum
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 Tbsps Almond milk
  • ½ Cup low calorie pizza sauce
  • Heaping ⅓ cup fat-free mozzarella
  • 1 Tbsps olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon of garlic salt

 

Method 

 

Step 1 - Add the flour, xanthan gum, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt to a large bowl and whisk them until combined. Then, pour in the almond milk and mix the ingredients until a crumbly dough forms. When  it does, use your hands to mix the ingredients and form a ball of dough. 

 

Step 2 - Once you have formed a dough ball, wrap it with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 285°C.

 

Step 3 - Lay out a large piece of parchment paper on a flat surface. Then unwrap the dough from the plastic, rub some of the flour onto it, and lay the dough down on the piece of parchment paper to create a lightly floured surface. 

 

Step 4 - Roll the dough out until it reaches around 10 inches in diameter. When it does, make a small indent with a 7-inch bowl on the top of the dough. Then roll the extra dough outside the indent, towards the centre to form the crust. After that, flatten and shape the crust. 

 

Step 5 - Cover the crust with olive oil and remove any excess parchment paper from around the dough. Then put the crust with the parchment paper underneath on a pizza tray and bake the crust for around 3-4 minutes.

 

Step 6 - Remove this from the oven, spread the pizza sauce on the dough, sprinkle the cheese on top, add your toppings of choice, and brush the crust with more olive oil and top it with garlic salt (this is your chance to pack your pizza with flavour!)

 

Step 7 - Put the pizza back in the oven and bake for around 8 minutes until the cheese has completely melted and the crust is golden brown. Then cut into as many pizza slices you want and tuck in!
